| square . round . twist describes what Laurie Nevers does with clay as she is creating her unique, fun and functional, clay pieces. The pieces shown below are representative of Laurie's work. Her current work is available in a richly colored palate of of teal blue, ivory ash, cranberry red and black, and she is experimenting with new colors as well.
Each clay piece begins its life in the "round" on the wheel, in her studio in the Frogtown neighborhood in St. Paul, Minnesota. Most pieces are altered on the wheel, setting in the foundation for her "twists" and shaped and "squared" when partially dry, then glazed and fired to 2370 degrees. The shapes and colors are fun, and each piece is dishwasher, freezer, oven and microwave safe, making it functional as well.

| boat bowl |
|
Bowls are the backbone of everyday life. Laurie's bowls are simple yet interesting, and totally functional. They come in sizes from small fruit bowls to large pasta serving bowls. Shapes include round, heart and the distinctive boat bowls.

| "little bottles" |
|
Slightly "twisted" bottles in different sizes and shapes make nice decorative groupings. Laurie also makes flasks, which begin on the wheel as a bottle, then paddled and shaved into a flattened form. (One of Laurie's favorite tools is the Sureform, a woodworking tool that also makes great "edges" in clay) Both shapes work well with flowers, fresh or dried.

| ash teapot |

Tea is one of the great pleasures of life, and what better way to enjoy with friends than in one of Laurie's "twisted teapots." Also available as a teaset, with teabowls, tray, creamer and sugar. And for confirmed coffee drinkers, mugs and coffee pots are available. |

| sectional vase |

Creating vessels to hold flowers is one of Laurie's favorite things to do at the wheel - both to sell and to use for arranging the flowers she grows in her garden. The piece shown here is large, thrown in two parts and assembled, and looks wonderful on a piano or mantle. Other shapes and sizes are available. Like flasks and bottles, vases also work well in decorative groupings.
